April 5, 2025The Case for Tet McMillan: Why the Jets Should Draft Arizona’s Star WR at No. 7
April 11, 2025The New York Jets’ offseason overhaul has moved on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and star wide receiver Davante Adams — but one former Green Bay Packer is staying put.
After weeks of speculation, wide receiver Allen Lazard has agreed to a restructured contract to remain with the Jets, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.
Jets and wide receiver Allen Lazard reached agreement on a restructured contract, as @Jason_OTC reported. Originally slated to earn a non-guaranteed $11 million base salary in 2025, Lazard’s new deal lowers that figure to $2.25 million, with an additional $250,000 available through per-game roster bonuses. In return, the Jets guaranteed $1.75 million of his salary and voided the 2026 year of his contract, allowing Lazard to hit free agency after the upcoming season. The restructure drops his 2025 cap hit from $13.2 million to $4.6 million, though it adds a $4.4 million dead cap charge in 2026.
No Trade Market, But Jets and Allen Lazard Find Common Ground
Lazard had been granted permission to seek a trade in early March, but no teams showed interest. Jets general manager Darren Mougey noted at the NFL’s annual league meeting on March 30 that both sides were actively working on a revised deal.
“Anytime you have a player of that caliber — he’s a physical blocker and a smart receiver — it’s worth finding a solution,” said head coach Aaron Glenn. “I coached against him plenty when he was in Green Bay and know the kind of player he can be.”

Lazard now joins Garrett Wilson as one of the key returning pieces in the Jets’ revamped receiving corps, alongside new additions Josh Reynolds and Tyler Johnson. He’s the last remaining Rodgers-era Packer still on the roster.
Last Man Standing from the Rodgers Era in New York
The Jets had fully committed to Rodgers over the past two seasons, starting with Lazard’s $44 million contract in March 2023 — the largest deal given to a wide receiver that offseason. They later added Randall Cobb (now retired) and traded for Davante Adams, all in an effort to build around Rodgers and former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who has also since departed.
Lazard’s time in New York has been uneven. Over two seasons, he’s totaled 60 receptions for 841 yards and seven touchdowns. After a sluggish 2023 campaign in which he was benched and admitted to losing focus following Rodgers’ Week 1 Achilles injury, Allen Lazard rebounded early in 2024 before a sternum injury sidelined him for five games. He lost his starting role to Adams but still managed 37 catches for 530 yards and six scores — though he also led the team with seven drops.
In seven NFL seasons, including five with the Packers, Lazard has 229 receptions, 3,077 receiving yards, and 27 touchdowns.
