Undrafted free agents occasionally change their minds, so keep in mind that this list of Jets UDFA signings might not be final. However, here is the latest and most comprehensive information on these players:
WR Jason Brownlee, Southern Miss
This player has a reputation for making exciting plays and showing off his impressive catch-making skills. We first noticed him midway through the 2022 season and speculated that he would be a promising player in the upcoming draft. Despite not being selected for the NFL draft, the New York Jets have since inked him to a deal.
S Trey Dean, Florida
An underwhelming forty-yard-dash time at the combine may have hindered Dean’s draft status, but he was generating buzz last year as a potential mid-round pick. Dean had a strong showing at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, and capped off his performance with a game-clinching interception toward the end of the game. Given the Jets’ shortage of defensive depth at the safety position, Dean might have a chance to earn a spot on the team.
LB Claudin Cherelus, Alcorn State
The 6 foot 1-inch, 226-pound Nevada native is a speedy linebacker who ran a 4.54 in the forty-yard dash during his pro day and showed off a 38-inch vertical jump. Last season for the Alcorn State Braves, Cherelus recorded 54 tackles and 4.5 sacks. As is common for Jets undrafted linebacker projects, Cherelus has previously played safety.
LB Caleb Johnson, Miami
Johnson, a former UCLA Bruin who transferred to Miami, posted 48 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Hurricanes this past season.
DL Deslin Alexandre, Pittsburgh
As part of Pittsburgh’s star-studded front seven, Alexandre showcases his prowess as both a run and pass defender. Given his capacity to create quality play in both areas, we believe Alexandre has a chance to earn a spot on the Jets roster.
