Aaron Rodgers in Finally a New York Jet
April 25, 2023Aaron Rodgers To Attend Voluntary OTA’s?
April 26, 2023The New York Jets have significantly increased their chances of winning the Super Bowl after striking a deal with one of the best quarterbacks of the century, Aaron Rodgers. The betting odds in Vegas have shown a noticeable uptick in Gang Green’s probability of claiming the trophy for the first time in a half-century since Rodgers verbally declared his intention to play for them.
After reports emerged on Monday that a trade had been finalized, the Jets’ odds of becoming Super Bowl champions had improved to +1400 (14/1), across most sportsbooks. This represents a significant leap from the +2500 odds they had opened at, following the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the latest NFL championship game in February, according to a news piece in The Athletic.

However, what did it cost the Jets to give bettors their money’s worth? They are surrendering this year’s No. 13 pick, a second-round pick (No. 42), a sixth-rounder (No. 207), and a conditional 2024 second-round pick to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for the No. 15 pick, Green Bay’s fifth-round pick (No. 170), and Aaron Rodgers.
Was The Trade Worth It for The Jets?
One of the noteworthy facets of this deal is that while it is indeed costly for the Jets, considering Rodgers is 39 and was openly contemplating retirement just a few weeks ago, it is still considered a bargain if it results in their first Super Bowl appearance, or indeed even better, since 1968. The 2024 conditional pick will upgrade to a first-round pick if Rodgers plays 65 percent or more of the snaps this season.
In summary, securing Aaron Rodgers has provided a big boost to this historic, yet long-struggling franchise, and has valuable implications for the upcoming NFL season. The Jets have no had a QB pass for over 4,000 yards since 1967. Rodgers has already done it 10 times in his career.
