In the Jets-Steelers preseason game, the two lined up on opposite sides of the formation and ran downfield routes. Mitchell peeled left toward the sideline and caught a pass from Geno Smith. “I think we can be explosive, just the whole offense though,” Mitchell said. “I think we have talent all around the board and it’s all about us and how we execute, that’ll determine how we work,” per the Jets report. That is Mitchell’s own reading of the group’s potential.
