Jets training camp Day 12, the completed August 18 practice, produced two interceptions of quarterback Cade Klubnik from the Jets defense. Chip Trayanum dropped an earlier Klubnik pass, and Samuel Womack intercepted it, Brian Costello reported. Will McDonald then dropped into coverage and deflected another Klubnik throw that AZ Thomas intercepted, a play Zack Rosenblatt and Brian Costello each reported independently, and Antwan Staley said that play ended practice as Klubnik’s second interception of the day. Garrett Wilson returned to the field after missing the prior practice, Brian Costello reported, and Zack Rosenblatt reported a Geno Smith laser completed to Wilson in front of coverage from Brandon Stephens and Will McDonald. Omar Cooper Jr. and Arian Smith each drew notice in one-on-one receiver-on-defensive-back work, Rosenblatt also reported, and Aaron Glenn set Breece Hall’s recovery timetable at two to three weeks, according to the official Jets account.
Defense Closed Day 12 With Two Klubnik Interceptions
Brian Costello reported that Chip Trayanum dropped a Klubnik pass before Samuel Womack intercepted it. On a separate play, Will McDonald dropped into coverage and deflected another Klubnik throw, and AZ Thomas intercepted it, a play Zack Rosenblatt and Brian Costello each reported independently. The coverage rep connects to JetCast’s earlier look at McDonald’s 2026 role. Antwan Staley reported that the play ended practice and marked Klubnik’s second interception of the day, with Womack responsible for the first. Klubnik led two scoring possessions against the Buccaneers in last week’s preseason opener. Costello also reported that Aaron Glenn had called for a longer, more intense practice, with one-on-one periods pairing receivers against defensive backs, offensive linemen against defensive linemen, and running backs against linebackers.
Geno Smith and Garrett Wilson Reconnected
Brian Costello reported that Garrett Wilson returned to practice after missing the prior session. Zack Rosenblatt reported a Geno Smith laser completed to Wilson in front of coverage from Brandon Stephens and Will McDonald, and called Smith “looking solid” on the day. JetCast’s Day 7 recap contains earlier Smith-Wilson camp context.
Omar Cooper Jr. and Arian Smith Won Their One-on-Ones
Zack Rosenblatt reported that Omar Cooper Jr. beat Jarvis Brownlee on an earlier rep in one-on-one work, then, on a later rep, got Malachi Moore to bite on an outside juke before hauling in the catch. Rosenblatt also reported Arian Smith’s deep catch against Dane Belton, and that Smith held on to the football as Belton tried to rip it away after the catch.
Breece Hall Will Miss Two to Three Weeks
Breece Hall’s groin injury, first reported at Jets training camp Day 11, now has a timetable from the team. Aaron Glenn told the official Jets account that Hall will be out two to three weeks and that he expects Hall to be ready for the regular season. Hall is out for the period Glenn stated, per Glenn’s update to the official Jets account.
The next practice is covered in JetCast’s Jets training camp Day 13 recap.
