May 8, 2023Nick Mangold, the legendary former NFL player, has taken on an ambassadorial role for the New York Jets since retiring from football. He has been serving the team in various ways, offering his expertise as a coach, acting as a realtor for renowned quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr, and assuming the role of advertising spokesperson, among other services. He has cemented his place as a living legend for Jets enthusiasts. Notably, he has extended an olive branch to one of the team’s latest draft picks, Joe Tippmann, who was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Promises Made, Promises Delivered. Welcome @JoeTippmann to the @nyjets with a little @seventyfourBBQ in your locker. Also, I now expect to be on the rookie breakfast sandwich list… #RookieDuties pic.twitter.com/27nwcZ7aD0

Tippmann, an offensive lineman, is a top pick with an exceptional talent and incredibly high IQ center. He exudes relentless effort on the field, never failing to play past the whistle. In many ways, he reminds Jets fans of the redoubtable Nick Mangold. It came as no surprise when Mangold immediately reached out to Tippmann to welcome him to the team and offer him a coveted prize, a bottle of Mangold’s legendary 74 barbecue sauce.
True to his word, Nick Mangold kept his promise to the Jets rookie, as evidenced by a tweet on May 4. In the photo, Tippmann’s locker is shown, revealing two different flavors of Mangold’s signature 74 BBQ sauce. The tweet was captioned, “Promises Made, Promises Delivered.”
With such a robust introduction and warm welcome from the Jets legend, Tippmann knows he has a lot to live up to while enjoying support from the seasoned player. In due time, the young talent could find himself carving his name in Jets Lore, further elevating his career to new heights.
