The Aaron Rodgers Trade Deadline is Approaching
April 21, 2023Aaron Rodgers Deal Expected To Be Finalized This Week
April 24, 2023The Jets just made an important move by re-signing C Connor McGovern. Not only did he start all 17 games for them last season, but he was the only player on the team who took every snap on offense. He is one of only six Jets on both sides of the ball to play 1,000+ plus scrimmage snaps. A veteran center, McGovern will help keep continuity on a Jets Offensive Line. That line will be tasked with protecting Aaron Rodgers.

Originally a fifth-round pick of the Broncos in 2017 out of Missouri, Connor McGovern quickly established himself as a reliable right guard for the team. But it wasn’t until he joined the Jets in 2020 that his true talent shone through at center, becoming the go-to pivot and logging 3,055 offensive snaps in just three seasons with the team.
In fact, McGovern’s 3,000+ snaps make him the first Jet in a decade to log such an impressive three-year span. Durability is his hallmark. McGovern played every offensive snap in 2022 and has missed only three games in his last six seasons. In three years with the Jets, he was the one constant on an ever-changing offensive line, playing in 48 out of 50 games. That places him among the 24th highest ranked NFL O-linemen over the past three years. This move was definitely needed.
With the 2023 NFL draft just days away, this doesn’t prevent the Jets from taking a center. Many mock drafts still have the Jets taking one in the second round. Having a rookie sit and learn behind a veteran like Connor McGovern could be beneficial.
